 "INFIL" Antibacterial sheet for masks, a new material developed by Toyoboshi

Antibacterial 4-layer protein filter for masks made of PLA (polylactic acid) and silk.
It has high water retention, is comfortable to wear, and is useful as an inner sheet for masks in all seasons.
One of the major features is biodegradability, with an emphasis on ecology.

Features

1. Antibacterial
The antibacterial action of PLA (polylactic acid) as a weak acidic fiber and the antibacterial fiber of the second layer exert an excellent antibacterial effect. It has been shown to have a strong antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus and pneumonia bacillus.

2. Comfort
The water retention of silk and the moisture release of PLA induce the heat of vaporization, which makes the skin feel cool in summer. Hard fibers are incorporated, and moderate hardness creates an appropriate space in the mask, making it comfortable to wear for a long time.

3. Biodegradable
All four layers are naturally derived biodegradable fibers, mainly silk and sorghum. The biodegradable material, which is decomposed into harmless substances by microorganisms, is an environmentally friendly fiber.

PLA (polylactic acid)
PLA (polylactic acid) is a biodegradable plastic that uses plant-derived starch and sugar as raw materials and decomposes under certain conditions. Hydrolysis is promoted by placing it in an environment with moderate moisture and temperature, such as compost or soil, and then decomposition (biodegradation) by microorganisms proceeds, and finally it is completely decomposed into CO2 and water. 

How to use

  • The side on which the INFIL characters are printed is the mask side (outside).
  • If there is no INFIL character, set it to the mask side (outside) with the side with glossy and fine dots and the side with a slightly rough feel by tracing with your finger.
  • You can use it repeatedly several times by washing. Gently press and wash with a neutral detergent, drain the water and put between towels, etc., and then dry in the shade. If you are concerned about fluffing after washing, replace it with a new sheet. (Slight fluff does not affect the antibacterial effect)
  • Do not iron (will melt)

 

please note:

  • The sheet does not completely prevent the invasion of viruses and pollen and the growth of bacteria.
  • Do not use it for any purpose other than the inner sheet of the mask.
  • It may have an odor peculiar to natural materials. If you are concerned about the odor, wash it once before using it (it does not affect the antibacterial effect).
  • If you feel suffocating, discontinue use.
  • Should you observe any abnormalities on your skin such as itchiness or rash during or after use, discontinue use and consult a doctor if necessary.
  • Since it contains natural fibers, there may be minute deposits on rare occasions, but there is no problem in using it.
  • It is a sanitary item and cannot be returned.

Functionality and comfort

"INFIL" was born from such a movement, which is a hybrid fiber with PLA (Polylactic acid)[1]and silk.

PLA (Polylactic Acid))Is a biomass plastic made from plants such as corn, combined with silk, we made a layered non-woven fabric. The fiver achieves antibacterial properties, comfort, and biodegradability by making the best use of the characteristics of each material. INFIL works as an inner sheet for masks all season.

Silk has a high affinity with the skin and is gentle on the bare skin, less likely to cause rashes or dermatitis. The cool contact feeling of silk and PLA moisture release function induces heat of vaporization and makes the skin feel cool in summer. We also focused on the three-dimensionality of the fibers. Taking advantage of the characteristics of (hard fiber that produces elasticity and elasticity), with Spunlace manufacturing method [4]utilizing the carding characteristics (fiber direction) of the layers, genarated an appropriate space in the mask. It does not stick to the skin and is comfortable to wear for a long time.
